The bond between “Mother and Child ” is the purest and most precious bond that exists on earth. During pregnancy, an intense bond develops between mother and child. This bond is crucial for both the emotional and physical well-being of the child.
It can sense every other activity or the emotions that the mother is going through and it acts accordingly…..You may find that instead of being excited about the birth of your baby, you are feeling stressed and confused. Your feelings during pregnancy can affect the baby too. For example, if you are feeling stressed, the baby’s heart rate will respond to this and might increase.
And as the saying goes “A healthy and happy mother gives birth to a healthy baby”—hence, a mother’s state of health during pregnancy is very important for fetal development. A mother should take good care of her mental and physical health during pregnancy.
Here are few tips which will help you in pregnancy for fetal development.
Stress Free Pregnancy
- In order to have healthy fetal development mother should be happy and enjoying her pregnancy to the best without taking any undue stress/anxiety. A child's next 70 to 80 yrs of life,that he or she is going to live, depends on how healthy a mother is during her pregnancy.
- Severe emotional disturbances directly affects the growth of the fetus by causing alterations, giving rise to minor problems like allergies in children after birth and even major problems Autism, Down’s syndrome or structural abnormalities. Depression, anxiety, and poor social support are all associated with poor maternal-fetal attachment.
- A mother during her pregnancy should spend most of the time enjoying her pregnancy, may be by going out with her husband for a walk or spending quality time with the husband. Her immediate family members should also take this into consideration, as their support matters the most during such an important phase in a women's life...She should be happy in whatever she does, be it working at home or going to office. This releases "happy hormones" which causes the fetus to grow well without any difficulties.
Physical Activity
- STAY FIT... It is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle and has many positive benefits in pregnancy. Routine exercise has been shown to reduce the risk of gestational diabetes and operative deliveries, and shorten postpartum recovery time.
- There are a lot of misconceptions regarding pregnancy which includes... She should not work during pregnancy which is not correct. If her condition is good and she is ok with the work she is doing she can continue doing her work without any troubles only thing is her work should not involve a lot of mental stress.
- She can work till 6 months of pregnancy provided she is doing well. If there are any issues like getting pain or getting exhausted easily which would harm the fetus then she should take rest as recommended by her doctor.
Healthy Diet
- EAT HEALTHY FOOD... Proper nutrition supports fetal development and maternal health, reducing the risk of complications.
- Take more supplements rich in iron and calcium. Add jaggery, raisins in your diet to improve hemoglobin levels... If there is any special cravings during pregnancy like ice cream, chocolates or anything spicy she can enjoy it but again not exceeding the limit. Have fibrous food like peas, lentils, black beans, broccoli etc to avoid constipation during pregnancy.
- Increase your intake of water, get enough sleep , Indulge yourself in yoga, meditation but not too much of vigorous exercises which will cause troubles.
Avoid Stimulants
- AVOID ALCOHOL AND DRUGS.... Do not consume alcohol, tobacco, caffeine or any kind of drugs during pregnancy. Maintain personal hygiene and avoid getting infections that can affect your fetal growth and eventually causing problems in pregnancy.
Avoid Unnecessary Medicines, Xrays
- AVOID TERATOGENIC SUBSTANCES: Teratogenic substances are the drugs that can halt the pregnancy or produce a congenital malformation (a birth defect). Also avoid exposure to radiations by getting exposed to X RAYS which can cause genetic mutations. Try and avoid taking painkillers or antibiotics unless needed.
